Wes has had an enduring interest in competitive sports. He attended Brock University and studied Sports Management, worked for the Hamilton Bulldogs professional ice hockey team and managed a sports retail chain. After all of these experiences he realized that opportunities in the sports world were limited and he shifted his career to a job at S&P Data.
Like many people at the company Wes started on the phones doing in-bound sales. He learned that selling over the phone was a lot different that in-person sales. Wes credits his Team Leader with helping him discover how to build rapport with customers and then excel in this sales role.
After a year on the phones Wes was given the opportunity to move into the Workforce Management Department. This group built schedules and planned staffing for inbound sales initiatives. In this position Wes gained greater knowledge of running the outbound dialer and developing a successful outbound dialing strategy.
Wes’s career evolved in mid 2013 as he was promoted to Operation Manager for a Winback Sales team. He led a group of 60 people tasked with winning back customers who had dropped a valuable monthly subscription service. S&P Data was competing with two other firms for winback sales during this period, and through Wes’s efforts S&P Data performed better than the two other firms combined.
Today Wes is a Senior Operations Manager with responsibility for three locations and the supervision of 225 people. Wes has taken his competitive drive and has applied it well for his (and S&P Data’s) good.
